September 18

Progress!

September 17

Someone had his annual shots today.
He's not feeling well.

September 16

It's only a few months until Matt's 40th birthday party so it's time to get going on the patio bar. It's been over a year since we marked it out on the concrete so no more procrastinating!

Here is the "before" shot (for future reference).

September 15

My favorite wine glass.
"Up" is my alternate.

September 14

Tonight's yummy dinner...Lemon Veggie Risotto
(recipe courtesy of Cooking Light)

September 13

It's almost time to redo the dining table for fall so this is
one last look at my favorite table decor from the summer.

September 12

The aftermath of Dignan's playtime in the yard.
I don't know what he did today but he was filthy!

September 11

10 years ago in July, this was the view from my room at the Soho Grand.
It still saddens me.

September 10

This photo is from a trip Matt and I took in 2004. This was the highlight of the trip. It was crisp out but not freezing cold. The sun was going down and it was just magical to skate around this rink, holding hands, looking at the old buildings and colorful trees surrounding us. It was probably one of the best times I've ever spent in New York.

September 9

The main (but not only) reason I love Central Park.
If only there weren't so many kids on this statue all the time.
I should get one of my own for my backyard.

September 8

I love Central Park. It's my absolute favorite place in New York.

September 7

My favorite subway station in New York.

September 6

Gee at the Trump

September 5

I'm swamped with work this week so I probably won't be taking any photos, thanks to my 10 hours workdays. However, since next Sunday is the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I thought I'd share some photos from my trips to New York over the years.

This first one is from 2001, only about 43 days before the attacks. I had won a few free nights in a suite at the Trump International (where this photo was taken). Boy, I was skinny then!

September 4

Matt's new drug business. Just kidding. He let the fennel plant grow wild so he could harvest the seeds. We got 2 jars out of it but it was a lot of work. I'm not sure he's in a hurry to do that again.

September 3

First pink, now blue...and my neighbor's house is bright green.
I think the Easter Bunny has a housepainting business in my neighborhood.

September 2

I've walked by this house for years and it always had a nice fountain going in front with a cute English garden. Then, today, it looked like this. I can't believe the homeowner's association let them get away with pink. I like the color pink normally but I'd get sick of looking at this house if this was my neighbor.

September 1

Julian neighbor.

August 31

Manzanita. One of my favorite trees.
I just want to peel off all of that bark.

August 30

Swinging between two trees...the sock monkey way.

August 29

Our sign.
They forgot to list Tulgey Wood, though.

August 28

Apple Tree.

August 27

Weekend in Julian

August 26

Feels great to be home! Matt and I went out to dinner at Souplantation tonight. There was this old woman near us who had a platter full of soup bowls. I snapped this shot when she got up to refill her drink. The weird thing is that she didn't have any soup! Each soup bowl was filled with something different. She had some olives in one and cucumbers in another, etc. It was like she created a Souplantation bento box.

August 25

Joaquin and I hanging out at PF Changs.

August 24

Met my old roommate, Mario, and his family tonight. He and his fiance, Tania, just had a baby named Joaquin. He is about 4 months old and is adorable.

They're getting married in Key West in November and I really want to go. Fingers crossed that we can afford it!

August 23

Another bad scan of one of my slides from photo class. I actually really like the look of this image. It was an experiment in "pushing" where you underexpose the image and then overdevelop it. I thought it turned out pretty cool.

August 22

Kitty.
I'm in LA this week for work and absolutely nothing of note happened today
so I'm digging into my past. This is a bad scan of a slide I took in one of my
photography classes at Santa Monica College back in the day.
